Undercover FBI #9

Special Agent Sophia

Rate this book
Sophia’s mane of silver hair gives her the look of a mystical warrior, a female not of this world. Some colleagues defend her, others are jealous, most fear her, yet everyone respects her abilities. An ace sharpshooter, she’s called on for the most difficult cases. Her uncanny ability to remain cool under duress makes her the perfect person to rescue the twins of the frantic governor whose rejected husband intends to make her suffer. The fact that they are whisked to Greece also works in her favor since she’s spent most of her summers in Rhodes visiting family and can show up there without anyone becoming suspicious. Problems begin when a cocky hero hits on her in the marketplace. Why her?

Sam Reagan, owner, and CEO of The Reagan Group promises his sister he’ll follow the FBI agent to the Greek island to ensure his niece and nephew are safely returned to her arms. Understanding his mission has to be covert because his former brother-in-law will recognize him, he uses an alias and follows the gorgeous agent who’s on the case. It’s understood he stays in the background, gives assistance if needed… until he sees her. Then all bets are off. There’s no way he’ll leave her to deal with dangerous traffickers after she saves a teenager hooker and whisks the poor girl away right under their noses.

Digging deeper, working together, they discover the consortium of criminals is more organized than they first believed. And the man running the operation is the same low-life loser who fathered the missing twins.

Special Agent Sophia is another great story by this author and deals with a darker side of humanity😢

Sophia is a dedicated Agent and is tasked with the job of returning the governor’s children after they are taken to Greece by their criminal father. But it turns out more is at stake than just the twins she needs to retrieve😳

Sam is gobsmacked when he sees Sophia from a distance the first time and even though he’s going to offer her help to rescue his niece and nephew, he realises his heart is also in danger of being stolen by the silver haired goddess😍

It upset me how many of the women agents made fun of Sophia. I was glad that one of the women told them just how good she was. She is so good that she is given an assignment in Greece. Of course she knew the real reason as she was from the area she had to go to and had many family and friends there. I loved it when she went to see the Governor about the woman’s ex husband kidnapping her five year old twins, and the governor’s brother Sam was watching and listening to everything in another room. He was smitten with her on sight! Sam owns his own Security company that is well known. His sister was glad he was going to Greece to shadow Sophia (even though she wouldn’t know it) to make sure the children were brought back safely. Once in Greece there was so much more going on, with the Governor’s ex being the head man. I couldn’t stand the man and was glad to see everything he got. It was an interesting book that I encourage you to read.

Sophia Dunne is an amazing woman and a very talented FBI Special Agent. When she is given the assignment to find and bring back two small children who were abducted by their father who is estranged from their mother and taken to Greece, she jumps at the challenge. Conveniently this man has taken the children to Rhodes, where Sophia has visited many times because her recently deceased grandmother lived there. She needs to visit anyway to settle the woman's estate.

At the same time the mother of these children has a brother who runs a world famous security firm, and she asks him to watch agent Dunne's back and help her bring back her children. Sam Reagan eagerly accepts the assignment and heads to Rhodes, too. Because his firm has incredible resources, by the time he arrives, he knows everything about Sophia, including what she looks like and what her favorite restaurant is in Rhodes. He conveniently meets up with her as soon as she arrives, but doesn't tell her who he is.

As the story develops, Sam and Sophia eventually become acquainted and know a little about each other's background. When a frightened child is helped by Sophia and she learns about a child smuggling ring taking advantage of small children, the story becomes much more complicated. When Sam hears about this, he goes on high alert and brings his firm's resources into the picture.

Sam and Sophia work very closely on both cases, and soon their sexual attraction comes into play. The more they are together, the more they find it impossible to resist and eventually make love together. There are so many tender and loving parts to this story that is almost seems like a love story, but there are also many parts that make you cringe at the evil that some men do to make a quick buck. The final chapters bring everything to the hoped-for conclusion and made me wanting more!

I really enjoyed this book. I notice there are a few things different about it from the previous ones. It took many of the things that drove me the most batty about earlier books in the series and corrected them, but I feel like it did so at the expense of some of the parts I loved most about those books. There’s still plenty of action and intrigue. I fully believed in the connection between our leading couple. Sam and Sophia are both strong and vulnerable. They have created reputations for being The Best of the Best, but they’re also not perfect which makes them characters that are easy to connect with. There’s lots of family interaction, but in this case that time spent with close friends and relatives was all part of the tension so it didn’t have quite the same lightness and fun that I’d come to associate with family matters in this series. Even though the comedy and humor were dialed back a little for this book, the conflict and suspense are turned up high. I may have only just finished this book, but I’m already looking forward to seeing what the author brings us next.

This ninth book in the Undercover FBI Series by Mimi Barbour was another outstanding read. This story introduced the tougher-than-nails agent Sophia who could not only handle the job but also any men who got in her way. This was definitely on the side of romantic suspense as Sophia and her new friend Sam, fight for the same goals while also finding out they could be perfectly matched as a couple truly in love for the first time. The action and suspense are built to a crescendo before the quick and brief action actually takes place. The romantic sexual exchanges are only referred to gently and in passing rather than in passionate and vivid descriptions. The characters, as usual, are likable and relatable, and more importantly, rootable for the reader who wants them to succeed at their missions. I have enjoyed other books in this series and this one is no exception. I am looking forward to number 10. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Hidden Gems Books.

I really enjoyed this book, even with the subject matter human trafficking. I find stories about human trafficking hard to read. I thought Mimi Barbour handled this story very well. In my opinion she took me to the darkside but not so dark I had to stop reading the book. Human trafficking is not to be taken lightly, but this is fiction. I loved Sophia she is strong, confident, intelligent and she takes no crap from any man. Sophia very good at what she needs to do to get what she wants. She knows how when to give it her all and when to pull back. I loved how she was able to play Mano. Sam was a little chauvinistic at times, once he learned what Sophia could do he held it in check most of the time. I found Sam protective, intelligent and welling to let Sophia do what she needed to do most of the time. I loved the give and take between Sophia and Sam very cool. Mimi Barbour gave me everything I love in a story suspense, action and strong characters. This is my favorite Undercover FBI Book to date. I read on Kindle Unlimited.

Special Agent Sophia - Undercover FBI Book 9
I loved Special Agent Sophia, a beautiful, feisty woman ready and able to fight the evil she encounters. Her sharp shooting skills and ability to remain detached in life and death situations have earned her respect in the FBI world. But when she is sent to Rhodes to rescue twins kidnapped by their father, she also encounters an international human trafficking and prostitution ring. Sam Reagan, a drool-worthy hero and uncle of the stolen children, has to fight his attraction for Sophia so that they can work together effectively. Their developing romance is set in a Mediterranean paradise against breathtaking sunsets, Greek bazaars, lots of Ouzo and mouth-watering cuisine. You hold your breath as their fight escalates against the international slavery cartel and reaches its very satisfying conclusion. A good read.

This ninth installment to the Undercover FBI series has dangerous traffickers, suspense, kidnapping and so much more. Special Agent Sophia Dunne is a sharpshooter and sent on the most difficult cases. She was sent to Texas to train for ALERRT ( the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training program). Her boss Assistant Special Agent in Command Bill Brunar used to be her dad's partner until he got shot and had to retire at a young age. Sam is the owner and CEO of The Reagan Group and brother to Governor Maureen Reagan. Her ex and father of her twins had them snatched from her. Now they are in Greece with him and she is unable to go get them back. Sam and Sophia have steamy chemistry, a partnership, strength and understanding as they plan to get the twins back and stop the trafficking ring. I love this series. They can be read as a standalone and out of order but each are a great read.
Sophia is used to doing things on her own and being judge by the way she looks and acts. But most don't know that isn't a not her being rude, only that she is actually shy. She has a big heart and stand up for what she thinks is right. When she is sent on an assignment to retrieve 2 kidnapped kids, she never thought it would bring more than that.
Sam is there to help and oversee that his niece and nephew get returned safely and that his ex brother in law doesn't do anything reckless with the kids involved but Sophia is a game changer in more ways then one.
These two are used to have to learn to rely on each other when things start to heat up...in more ways than one.

Suspense and love in the Med:
This book had an added richness and depth that the previous ones in the series didn't have, thanks largely due to the unique setting of the Greek island of Rhodes. The setting may have been tranquil yet there was plenty of high stakes action in this book.
Sophia is a determined, feisty FBI agent and I liked how she also had a tender, compassionate side. Meanwhile Sam is an all protective alpha male who loved fiercely. You could feel the connection between these two yet there wasn't really any character development.
I enjoyed the investigative aspects and thought the author did a good job of highlighting the deplorable reality surrounding human trafficking.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

This is my first book in this series. Sophia is a highly respected FBI agent who is asked to go to Greece to recover the governor's kidnapped twins.
Sam is the twins uncle and former military who runs a highly sought out security company. He too is in Greece to make sure the twins are returned.
This story has all the action and suspense you would want. Sophia is a strong character who is this book is shown to also have a soft spot for her family and friends. She is very career focused.
Sam is a strong alpha who is consumed by his company and career.
When these two meet the sparks are there and neither could believe the feelings they are experiencing are new and unexpected.
I'm going to go back and read the previous books.

Our heroine is asked to do a favor, but it is not a simple one. She needs to recover children from the estranged father in a foreign country where he also runs a human trafficking operation. This one might be a bit complicated...

This is a romantic suspense story. The story is well written and easy to read with a well developed setting and a good cast of characters. The plot is excellent and includes some twists and turns which keep things interesting. It was also fun watching the interactions of the characters as well as the building relationship between the hero and heroine. Overall, it was a very fun story and I look forward to more from the author.

Highly recommended.

Agent Sophia has what other agents are lacking - a family tie to Greece. Something needed for her undercover assignment to recover twin children of the Governor. Children that were kidnapped by the Governor's husband with connections on Greece to help keep his children. What Sophia doesn't count on is the Governor's brother Sam who is also working undercover, watching Sophia and keeping his identity a secret. Together they discover a human slavery ring and they really have their hands full with that and the twins abductions. They don't get any help from the police chief or mayor as they are in on it, but Sophia's family is there to help her solve both crimes. Expect sparks to fly between Sophia and Sam, even more when she discovers his true identity. A great addition to the series.

it was an ok read but…

What is it with doing child trafficking in books now? Child sex, rape and trafficking has no place in this book! If you take out the above topics the over all story line was good and would have been better with just a father taking his kids out of country… there were several editing errors, great characters, and a different story line, but can we get off the child sex topics? Have read this author before and enjoyed the books, not sure if i can read more of this series, i skipped and started with this one because of the cover and the writeup didnt indicate the full details of the storyline or I would have passed. Thankfully it had a HEA all around.

Sophia and Sam

Sophie's boss had a special mission for her. The Governor's husband had taken her twins to Rhodes and blocked her entry when she tried to join them. Since Sophie's Grandmother had lived there and Sophie visited her often she was the perfect person to send. Sam the children 's Uncle would be there if she needed him. At first Sam and his sister wondered what the FBI was thinking of. Sending this silver haired beauty. After checking up on her Sam was sure she was the one.
As always Ms Barbour has created a wonderful story with wonderful characters. As always she draws me into her story and doesn't release me until the story is done.

As an agent skilled in difficult missions, Special Agent Sophia Dunne was the right one to recover the California governor's children. Unknown to her, she had a partner, one who had personal motives to be there. An interesting plot development with action, human trafficking, suspense, drama, strong emotions, family, violence, romance and passion. Liked how Sophie and Sam were struggling with their feelings and emotions trying to control what they felt. Lovely the Greek country descriptions! Voluntarily reviewed this copy that I received from Hidden Gems.

Very enjoyable read

This is such a great series and Special Agent Sophia is a great addition to it. The story transports the reader to a Greek isle where Sophia works undercover to find and bring home a pair of kidnapped children. While reading about Sophia’s special assignment, you will be drawn into the story and feel like you are really there and experiencing what Sophia experiences.

Sophia is the sort of person who is always trying to do good for others, that´s how she was brought up and one of her most important values. When she goes to the island of Rhodes to solve a kidnapping case, she is confronted with a trafficking people ring and also finds the love of her life. A fast paced and entertaining story.

This young FBI Sharp shooter had learned her skills next to Greek grandmother. Shooting and motor bike riding were things passed from grandmother to grand daughter.
Now the older woman had passed away, but her home was passed also to her grand daughter.
It was desperately needed, to help return two youngsters to their fretting mother.
However, there's a lot more to this story, with drama on every page.
Yes, excellent read!

Rambo Rocked!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. It had everything one could ask for. A young woman who can outshoot the bad guys. Bad guys who are really nasty. The good guys were standout fantastic, especially Sam. There are children. And young girls forced into slavery. And Rambo. I loved Rambo. These characters were all full bodied and encouraged the reader to join them. I loved when the story led to a most interesting conclusion. In all a great experience!

Romance action thriller

Agent Sophia is portrayed as independent, self sufficient female FBI agent with top skills in the beginning of the story but once the author has her fall in love with a big macho guy, she suddenly becomes clumsy and the typical female picture of dropping her purse and gun while running from the villain. How disappointing to reduce this strong character to a stereotype.

Freeing the innocent

Special agent sophia is all about work. Shy to everyone but her is full. When she got the assignment of helping the mayor find her twins and get them back she had no idea that she would have a handsome partner for back up. When they were getting plans ready they both wasnt expecting what came next.

There is so much going on in the background of this story. A lot of strings to pull. Time is not a friend in this one. Gives me the shivers and upset stomach to think about how fast things could get ugly, REAL fast. Very good story. Great story

Barbour is a keeper, no matter what the story is, she keeps the action flowing without duplicating any story lines from her other books. I am not reading her books in chronological order, so the story is going to be great no matter what order I am reading. Thank you.

Really good.

Loved that both main characters had such depth to them and drove the story with their strength and grit. This was a pleasant read where I couldn't wait to find out how the bad guy got his punishment.
The weighty topic it tackles is just as important and hopefully brings light to that plight other are facing.

This is another great book from the author in the series. I found it realistic and sad in terms of what levels human beings can sink to in order to make money. At the same time there were reminders that the good folks also exist. Sam and Sophia had great chemistry. Also enjoyed the Greek angle. Good story.
