The first three books were quite enjoyable. The story was easy to follow on. However, things became so confusing on the last book. It was as if all events were squeezed into it and it left me with more questions than answers. Some conflicts felt like they came from nowhere, never revealed where they started. The essence of mating was bent in this story, which I did not enjoy that much. The endings of some characters were questionnable to me as well. And once I completed all the books, I realized that the third one held no signifance for the future events. The story on its own was good but since it held no signifance, another characters should have been featured on the third book instead. I'm not sure if the author was knowledgable enough about tarot but the numbers in each major arcana are important as it represented the sequence of a story of its own. I could've wished the correct sequence was followed instead.

It's honestly sad considering how I can't even finish the first book. Just constant sex. I'm not even exaggerating. And not even good sex. The descent and ascent series were great. But this? Jesus Christ. Terrible.

The stories and characters were very vibrant and exciting. Well written characters that pull the reader in emotionally. I only wish the last book didn't throw in so many random out of place conflicts between characters that were getting along fine before. Also, the last book seems to condemn everything and everyone from the previous books, casting judgement on the way the magic works even though it was the only way it worked. While the entire series was working towards a happy ending, the epilogue implies that everything fell apart very quickly. And that somehow the falling apart was because of the same behavior that saved everyone throughout the series. That's very confusing.
