Such Heartaches
This book had me eating and sleeping with this continuing heartbreak of family that is so broke. Unfortuneately, this is a true story and probably in more than just this one life. I feel so blessed to have the family that I had growing up and am so troubled to think what these folks endured. A well written book and exhausting...loved it.
Cracks in the Sidewalk
What a lovely bittersweet story. I read it all the way through in two days. It perfectly fits the insane way things work today when something interrupts the flow of events in the welfare of children. It’s such a narrow line to walk, preserving the welfare of a child and serving the welfare of an organization. In Hawaii, I participated in a court case that went on for years. An observer would never know the welfare of a child had any influence on the proceedings nor on the outcome .
