Ali Parker has done it again with another AMAZING book! “Making the Rules” has it all…romance, heartbreak, hurt, laughter…all making for a fast and enjoyable read. Once I started, I couldn’t put it down! We met Dr. Kendal Tarrington in the Alpha Billionaire Series and oh my…he’s hot and delicious! But he has a lot on his plate, with his job as a Professor at the University and his sister Amanda fighting MS. He’s been alone a long time due to the demons of his past. Ana, a former student, caused him to blur the student/teacher lines…but it was ok as he thought she was it for him…until his world came tumbling down. After he rescues his career, he comes up with “THE RULES” and his speech to ward of unwanted advances: “I'm not a model, nor do I care to be. I'm a guy that loves math, football and I'm an extreme stickler for the rules. I don't date students or TAs, so keep things staunchly professional between us, or I'll dismiss you." For the last 6 years, this has kept him and his career safe..well that a 2 years of celibacy. But deep down he’s a hopeless romantic who’s searching for more…companionship, sexual chemistry and most of all the sense of loving someone and being loved. But he’s afraid that the type of relationship he’s looking for isn’t in the cards for him. All that changes when he meets Dana Young, the kind, smart, funny and gorgeous nurse at his sister’s hospital. It’s lust at first sight for him. She makes him want to forget his rules and let himself let go and feel…for the first time in a long time. Dana is 8 months away from graduating with a double major and the last thing she expects is to meet the sexy and tantalizing Kendal Tarrington at the hospital where she’s interning. She’s already having a hard time keeping her emotions in check with her patients and struggling with the decision of Medical School. Added to that, her boyfriend of two years, Cameron, takes her for granted, treats her like trash, and acts as if her feelings don’t matter at all. All he wants is to mold her into what he thinks she should be. But before she can break it off, she comes home to a Dear John Letter. He’s even robbed her of the satisfaction of breaking up with him that coward!! But a date night with Kendal just might be what she needs to see just how beautiful and sexy she really is. Just as Kendal and Dana start breaking down each other’s walls…tragedy hits and Kendal’s demons from his past resurface. He can’t handle what could be with Dana…even though she’s more than what he wanted, and exactly what he needs. Will Kendal be able to break his rules for what he knows could be with Dana? Is Dana strong enough to hang on and help him through the demons of his past and present? This was such a heartfelt yet sexy read. It’s got romance, lust, hurt, laughter, pain….it’s got it all. The scene where Cameron realized Dana has moved on, with someone better than him, is PRICELESS…had me howling out loud! Loved it! Mr. Jackson- what a firecracker! I really loved his interactions with Dana…and kudos to Ali for not letting us READ that letter! :o) Damon, Bethany, Matt and Erica’s relationships were present and well written in this story and I enjoyed being able to keep up with them all. Ali really got her hooks into me with this book…that cliffhanger is a doozy…left me breathless and needing to know what happens next…bring on the next book….STAT!!

Dana is a person after my own heart. Being a nurse and truly caring about the people they take care of. Kendal is a stickler to his rules, but Dana is a intern taking care of his sister. She does a great job, knowing how to calm her down. Can he find love, can she drop the bad boyfriend. Loved the book can not wait to see what happens next.

After meeting Dr. Kendal Tarrington in the Billionaire Alpha series as Damon Bryant's best friend, I couldn't have been more ecstatic to read his story. He almost had his career ruined when he fell for one of his students and carried on a relationship against the school's policy. He has vowed never to do that again so he hasn't dated in over 2 years, but is realizing that his life is missing something. He comes to the conclusion he will have to find someone outside of the university and is hoping he can find someone closer to his age: he doesn't want another younger woman that's for sure. His life hasn't been easy: his Mom died of MS, his sister now has MS, and his Dad left. His sister is all he has left and she means a lot to him so much so he wishes he had MS instead of her since she is only in her early twenties and won't experience marriage and kids. While visiting his sister in the hospital, he meets a nursing intern, Dana Young. She is a double major of business and nursing which unfortunately, as they start their relationship, Kendal doesn't put together that maybe she attends the same university where he teaches. What attracts him to her is how she treats his sister. The only problem is he never laid down his rules of no relationship with a student and since these two are falling for each other pretty quickly, will Kendal break his rules or will he stick to them and tell Dana they are can't date? Check out this fabulous story!
