Saul has to slay a dragon, but his chances don't look good. Things only gets worse when he meets a man known to have slain a dragon. After enlisting a mysterious dark elf, with an enigmatic curse called Brael Truthseeker and a powerful lady elf - Vashni, things start to look up... Can they succeed?
The story follows a group of adventurers as they travel through the dangerous, and at times brutal land of Torea. Each book is somewhat focused on the cover characters, in this case Korhan the barbarian and Vashni - an elf who ends up mentoring Korhan in mental skills and swordplay, in exchange for him agreeing to act as a kind of servant to her.
