About this ebook

When war comes after a century of peace, it is sudden and brutal. Taken by surprise Earth's far-flung colonies are in danger.

The only son of an admiral, Second Lieutenant Michael Sheridan finds himself thrust into a desperate conflict that he and the untried soldiers under his command are not ready for. Focusing on the people struggling to survive the onslaught, First Strike is a novel that propels the reader to the furthest limits of space. Fighting a ruthless and determined enemy, Sheridan soon learns the brutal lessons of war and that his enemy may not be what it appears to be.

what a dull, formulaic book. the story of Michael Sheridan is filled with worn out cliches and gaping holes in the logic of the story. Did i mention how predictable it is ? sometimes it seems to pick up and improve but then it falls flat.

The story is well written and a good plot. If I had to try and find something negative it would be, with a story that far in the future with FTL technology, one would not expect such conventional warfare. So a little more imagination may have come in handy but would have been much more difficult to write and more complex. I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading the rest of the books. I would definitely recommend this book.

A awesome page-turning Thriller would get 5 stars but not happy with the blasphemy statements although it loans realism to a hardcore NCO marine sergeant!
